History
The song was the first known Breaking Benjamin song. The song was first recorded in 2000, but without the tremolo-effect in the intro. It appeared on the band's EP in 2001 before serving as the lead single on their debut album, Saturate, in 2002.
After being played by 97.9 X DJ, and now Breaking Benjamin road manager, Freddie Fabbri, "Polyamorous" gained the attention ofHollywood Records who signed Breaking Benjamin the following year.[1] As the band's debut single, it gained significant national radio play and became Breaking Benjamin's first hit song.
Musically, "Polyamorous" features elements of alternative metal with its long-drawn, growled vocals and chunky metallic guitars. The song begins with guitar notes played with a staccato delay effect which quickly swells into a heavy intro. The verses feature palm mutedguitar and creeping vocals that suddenly charge into a heavy, shouted chorus. Bass popping and modest guitars are featured in theinterlude which gradually build back into the roaring chorus.

[edit]Music videos
Two music videos were produced for "Polyamorous." The original version deals with a voyeuristic couple whom, with the use of a joystick and various monitors for hidden cameras,
are spying on other couples. The band is seen performing in the same
chambers as these couples are as well as in a cage in an empty swimming
pool. In various shots, vocalist Benjamin Burnley's eyes become entirely
glossed in blue and his mouth fills with a blue, electric voltage
effect as he sings. The voyeuristic couple continues to spy until they
see themselves on the monitor and look behind themselves to see the same
camera they use to spy. This is the version found on the Dear Agony Best Buy bonus DVD. It can be seenhere.
The second video for "Polyamorous" served as a promotional vehicle for the video game Run Like Hell: Hunt or Be Hunted.
It features the same footage of the band performing in an empty
swimming pool intercut with cinematic clips from the video game. The
voltage effect on Benjamin's eyes and mouth, is green in this version.
This version can be seen as a computer bonus feature on the Saturate CD.
It can be also be seen here
